For over a decade, our specialty has been team building games that make groups work together better. Usually, we’ve done it in person. That’s on hold now. But what this public health crisis has taught us is that the benefits of playing together persist even when we can’t actually be together.
Humans are naturally social animals: we can’t magically flip a switch, start working from home, and carry on as though nothing is different. It’s going to take care and attention to keep your team strong during this difficult time. Building a foundation of play – the most fundamentally human of interactions – reminds us that somewhere, out there, on the other side of the Zoom meeting, there are real people. And on top of that, giving everyone a chance to laugh and have fun together gives us a break from the problems we’re all working to overcome.
